Hilary Clinton skillfully uses plenty of rhetoric via pathos, ethos, logos, and kairos to captivate her audience. Clinton shows the audience her empowering leadership and delicate motherly grace that the nation craves. The question potential voters are inquiring: Is Hilary Clinton the right candidate for president? The advertisement successfully depicts Clinton as the right candidate to become the next President of The United States. Pathos was used to engage the audienceââ¬â¢s emotions and hook the reader in to the subject. Hilary Clintonââ¬â¢s advertisement successfully portrays the use of pathos by talking about the hardships her mother went through as a child, one being that her mother was abandoned and mistreated at eight years old. Clintonââ¬â¢s use of pathos instilled sympathy, empowerment, and encouragement into the brains and hearts of the audience. This key rhetorical technique encouraged the audience to feel that although she was abandoned, Hilaryââ¬â¢s mother still taught her to fight for what she believes in. As Hilary Clinton stated, ââ¬Å"My moms life, and what she went through are big reasons why standing up for kids and families became such a big part of my life.â⬠(Clinton).Show MoreRelatedFundamentals of Hrm263904 Words à |à 1056 PagesDesign Senior Media Editor Senior Photo Editor Production Management Cover Design Cover Credit George Hoffman Lise Johnson Sarah Vernon Amy Scholz Laura Finley Dorothy Sinclair Sandra Dumas Susan McLaughlin Kevin Murphy Laura Ierardi Allison Morris Hilary Newman mb editorial services David Levy à ©Michael Eudenbach/Getty Images, Inc. In childhood, these individuals usually have oppositional defiant disorder, towards parents and eachers which develops into conduct delinquency in adolescence. This delinquency takes the torm ot reckless thrill-seeking, physical violence towards people or animals, and law-breaking. Most adolescent delinquents grow out ot this behavior as they enter adulthood. Three percent of the population, or about 8,100,000 individuals In the united states have antisocial personality disorder. The National comorbldlty survey, which used DSM-III-R criteria, found that 5. 8% of males and 1 . 29t of females showed evidence of a Ilfetlme risk for the disorder. Prevalence estimates wlthln cllnlcal settings have varied from 39t to 30%, depending on the predominant characteristics of the populations being sampled. About ot men and ot women in the population have this disorder. Although in later adulthood, the more outward and aggressive symptoms ot ASPD may diminish and the person remain, thereby affecting the individualââ¬â¢s role in society as well as all those who come n contact with him/her. The disorder tends to occur more often in men than in women, and in people whose predominant role model had antisocial features. The incidence of antisocial personality is higher in people who have an antisocial biological parent, parents with histories of drug and/or alcohol abuse and who physically and/or emotionally abused the individual during childhood. Abandonment may have been an issue for the person with ASPD Antisocial personality disorder is probably caused by a combination of factors. Having any of these characteristics oes not necessarily mean that a person has antisocial personality disorder. Influences from the environment can impact the onset of this disorder. A chaotic family life contributes to the development of this personality disorder, especially where there has been little supervision from parents or other adult role models. The disorder also may be more common where the community is not supportive or provides little reward for positive behavior. Genetic or biological factors. Researchers have found certain physiological responses that may occur more frequently in people ith antisocial personality disorder. For example, they have a comparatively flat response to stress. They seem to get less anxious than the average person. Some researchers have found changes in the volume of brain structures that mediate violent behavior. People with this kind of brain function may thus have more difficulty restraining their impulses, which may account for the tendency toward more aggressive behavior. Neurobiologists cannot say with certainty that these variations in brain structure are a cause of antisocial personality. The variations could easily be he result of life experiences that are more common in people with this personality disorder rather than a cause. The cause of this disorder is unknown however, genetics and environmental factors influence its development. I believe that personality makes each individual special and consists of thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Personality is forged during childhood via the interplay of genetics and environmental factors. Problems with inherited genetics or the early environment, such as significant exposure to abuse and/or violence, make it more likely that a ersonality disorder such as ASPD will develop. Therefore, I believe in order to understand the cause of ASPD, both genetics and the environment need to be explored. Dr. Martha Stout, in her book, ââ¬Å"The Sociopath Next Door,â⬠explains that a genetic predisposition for sociopath may already present at birth for some people. Determinations regarding how this increased risk for ASPD become expressed come from an individualââ¬â¢s life experiences. We are accustomed to think of sociopaths as violent criminals, but in The Sociopath Next Door, Harvard psychologist Martha Stout eveals that a shocking 4 percent of ordinary peopleâ⬠one in twenty-fiveâ⬠has an often undetected mental disorder, the chief symptom of which is that that person possesses no conscience. 5 Sentences with Misplaced Modifiers
5 Sentences with Misplaced Modifiers 5 Sentences with Misplaced Modifiers 5 Sentences with Misplaced Modifiers By Mark Nichol In each of the following sentences, ambiguity or confusion results from faulty placement of a modifying phrase. Discussion and a revision of each sentence illustrates a solution to the problem. 1. The organization provides youth and adults with disabilities job training and employment services. Does disabilities apply to the youth and adults, or does it refer to the job training and employment services? To clarify the sentenceââ¬â¢s meaning, precede the reference to the recipients of what is offered with the description of what is offered: ââ¬Å"The organization provides job training and employment services for youth and adults with disabilities.â⬠2. Here are some obscure names for everyday things we donââ¬â¢t usually use. Does the list (accompanied by photographs of the object in the source material for this example) pertain to a) names of seldom-used things, or b) seldom-used names of things? The correct answer is b, but the way the sentence is written, the reference is ambiguous. To clarify, write, ââ¬Å"Here are the obscure names we donââ¬â¢t usually use for everyday things.â⬠3. The man, whose wife and baby still live in the city, did not want his name used for their safety. The sentence reads as if the man did not want his name used to contribute to the safety of his wife and child, or as if he wanted his name used for some reason other than their safety. However, it means that, for fear of reprisal, he was protecting them by not using his name. This revision more clearly conveys that meaning: ââ¬Å"Out of concern for the safety of his wife and baby, who still live in the city, the man did not want his name used.â⬠4. Smith didnââ¬â¢t endear himself to voters by refusing to participate in a debate scheduled for Monday. This sentence suggests that Smith used some other strategy for endearing himself to voters other than refusing to participate in the scheduled debate. (If so, why is the alternative strategy not described?) Simply inserting a comma after voters (ââ¬Å"Smith didnââ¬â¢t endear himself to voters, by refusing to participate in a debate scheduled for Mondayâ⬠) will help readers absorb the sentenceââ¬â¢s meaning, but itââ¬â¢s an awkward solution; better yet, transpose the subordinate clause and the main clause: ââ¬Å"By refusing to participate in a debate scheduled for Monday, Smith didnââ¬â¢t endear himself to voters.â⬠5. Incorporate external-risk indicators into analysis, such as economic or industry-specific details. Economic or industry-specific details are examples of external-risk indicators, not of analysis, so the final phrase of the sentence should parenthetically follow indicators, not analysis: ââ¬Å"Incorporate external-risk indicators, such as economic or industry-specific details, into analysis.â⬠Want to improve your English in five minutes a day? In an industry where employers tend to focus on turnover rather than retention, it was an unexpected shift towards what trucking companies tend to forget about- that loyalty is its own reward. The companyââ¬â¢s surveys found that the majority of drivers value ââ¬Å"a respectful, friendly, understanding, and kindâ⬠environment, followed closely by independence. Practices that incited loyalty included listening to suggestions, providing incentives, and covering benefits.Top companies for retention include:Motor Carrier Service (Ohio), which issues a driver scorecard and asks drivers for input before releasing it. Culture shock Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Culture shock - Essay Example Group study replaced solo study with parents and teachers. I do not come from a wealthy class therefore I had to support myself in college for tuition funds and my pocket money. I come from a middle-class family. My parents and family members expect a lot from me. For this reason, they gave special attention to my studies while I was in school. This soft authority and system made me comfortable and dependent on it. Unfortunately, this is not nurturing or helpful in the long term. Eventually, a child has to open his wings and fly to leave the nest. Freedom, independence and choice were alien to me regarding life-changing decisions. I always had my parents and family there to guide me about difficult decisions. But college life is where parents expect their children to prove that they are capable of taking care of themselves. It was a whole different challenge to me. I believe that my family life was an educational ground for me to be ready for college life. My family background supported, nurtured and raised me in a secure and relaxed environment. The college life challenges people that they need to come out of their comfort zones. College life is where students do not care about laundry; bunking classes is the norm and having no money for anything is the story of almost every student. While at home, one is expected to live ââ¬Ënormal. Obeying parents is the law. It is not just me, my fellows also feel this cultural shock. Some fall victims to this stark change while some adapt and refine themselves. I do not believe that one should consider college life as the ultimate test where penalty is either life or death. This way of thinking can turn average students into ââ¬Ëuselessââ¬â¢ bookworms. I have used the term useless because if someone learns nothing after spending hours reading something, he/she could have spent that time in more ââ¬Ëusefulââ¬â¢ ways. The illusion of acting well is worse than behaving bad. The

Additionally, role of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae in the mortgage market of USA has been discussed along with an outline of importance of creating liquid secondary mortgage market in an economy. Lastly, recommendations have been provided regarding development of mortgage market in the KSA economy. The Saudi mortgage law is also known as the real estate mortgage law which is a union of five different laws regarding financing of real estate and control of finance companies. It was gathered that the enactment of the law was on hold for a very long time period considering the crisis in global real estate market that initiated with development and burst of housing bubble in the USA. These laws are being considered as of paramount importance for the KSA finance sector and real estate market because they are expected to ensure balance while incorporating innovation in the sector. Furthermore, these measures are expected to minimize growing gap in the financing market and emphasize on structured financing in the countryââ¬â¢s secondary market. Fundamentally, these laws have been instated to ensure that investment in real estate sector is encouraged without deviating from the Shariah compliances.
